Online Community:

For inspiration, community forums and camaraderie, check out Hooping.org Firehoopers Forum and Hoop City Firehoop & Firehooping Forum.  These are terrific spaces to find and cultivate your local communities.

Safety & Insurance:

Before you burn, please make sure you are prepared and confident.  For more information on fire safety, Home of Poi Fire Safety Guidelines includes an extensive explanation of fuels, safety procedures and basic first aid for burns. 

If you are spinning fire in public spaces, YOU are responsible for any and all damage to property and injury to yourself and others.  Be responsible when spinning fire!  The North American Fire Arts Association has resources for fire artists including safety, insurance and guidelines for obtaining fire permits.

These yearly retreats are amazing opportunities to learn, share and create community.

Hoop Convergence is a yearly hoop dancers' conference held in May outside Carrboro, North Carolina.
Hoop Camp is a yearly hoop retreat held in late September in the Santa Cruz mountains.
WildFire is a biannual gathering (June and September) dedicated to everything fire in Connecticuit.
Firedrums is an annual gathering held in May dedicated to everything fire in Santa Cruz, CA.
